We have moved into our new house!!!
After nearly three years in the Netherlands, the Singer Family has returned
to the United States. We truly enjoyed our time in Europe and miss our friends
and our life in South Limburg, but it's on to a new adventure. Our new adventure
takes us to northern California and the Wine Country of Napa and Sonoma.
Our new home is in Santa Rosa, California. Santa Rosa is located one hour north of San Francisco in the heart of the California wine producing region. Nearly all the major California wineries are within 30 miles of where we live. Scott and Kim are both still working for Medtronic - Medtronic has its vascular headquarters here along with a major manufacturing facility. The vascular division makes such things as catheters and balloons used in angioplasty and stents that are used both in the heart arteries and other veins in the body.
Santa Rosa is experiencing quite a housing shortage at this time which is driving up the prices of homes. After some thought and some searching, we decided to build a house. It is an exciting and scary process. We have watched our new home start as a poured concreted foundation to something that resembles a house. The attached pictures show the progress to date. Each week we make a field trip to the building site to take some pictures and check the progress of the house. It is amazing how quickly a house can go up. We are sure, however, that things will progress much more slowly once the finishing is started.
Matt and Rachael are adjusting well to their new environment.
They are attending summer day camp with the YMCA and have been swimming,
going on field trips and making lizard key chain holders from beads. They
just went to a two day golf camp recently and are excited about learning
to golf. Scott has promised to take them out on a golf course as soon as
their skills improve a little. They have made a few friends in the neighborhood
and at camp, but are looking forward to school starting and being able to
make some friends in our new neighborhood. They will be going to school
at a brand new school which is a short distance from our new house. The
school's name is Austin Creek, named after a creek which runs through our
neighborhood.
