The church in Ribe, Denmark was built in the 12th century. The town's medieval square has been completely restored over the ages. The pictures above show the church. Note: The right tower of the church collapsed during a Christmas eve service in the 13th century. Over 100 people were killed. Kind of gory, huh? Just click on any of the photos to get a closer look.

Camping We left our house on Monday morning and by 8:00 that night we were drinking tea next to the tent in Haderslev, Denmark. Ribe The first city we visited was Ribe, Denmark. It's heyday was before and during the Viking age. It is said to be the oldest city in Denmark. Because of its close proximity to the sea, traders came from all over. Rylee, Ryann and Raine could not resist the temptation of a real danish. Ohmigod! The absolute best danishes we've ever had. Walking down the narrow cobblestone streets of Ribe and reading the names on the doors of the houses, was like a seeing the neighbors back in Wisconsin. There were Hansens, Rasmassens, Seversens and tons of other "sons". We drove along the coast heading north to Frederikshavn where we took a ferry to Gotenborg, Sweden. |
