Norway was a wonderful
country to camp in. Both Sweden and Norway have a law, "Allemansratten" which
is partly built on ancient Scandinavian tradition of mutual
consideration and tolerance between landowners and the general
public. It basically states that any
person can camp for one night anywhere as long
as no permanent damage is done and that one is at least 100 meters from
a private home. We took advantage of this law several times to
enjoy the beauty and solitude of nature.
We also spent a few
hours in Lillehammer the site of the Winter Olympics. The city is
really small and it was fun to walk the streets. It was hotter
than hot that day and we ended up eating pizza and sweating in the sun.

Oslo
We hit Olso on a hot sunny day. That doesn't happen too
often. There are toll roads leading into this city so be prepared
if you are driving. You'll need Norwegian Kroners to get in.
We spent a few hours on the port. It was a happening city.
Raine and Todd rollerbladed. Ryann and Rylee walked. The
beer was quite refreshing.
Fjords
We spent the rest of our time in Norway following the river valley towards the Sogn og Fjord. Norway is the most beautiful country we
have ever seen. The views were spectacular. We saw some
great Viking ruins including runic stones and burial sites. The
Jotunheimen National Park was full of snow capped mountains. Ryann
and Raine loved playing in the glacier snow.
